What managers will not get under new labour laws?

Agama Law Associates partner Archana Balasubramanian shares her views on the key changes to the new labour laws that will impact managers in India in an article by The Economic Times titled “What managers will not get under new labour laws“.

-Managers will no longer be entitled to fixed-term contracts. All new contracts will be permanent contracts, unless there is a genuine need for a fixed-term contract, such as for a specific project or assignment.

-Managers will no longer be entitled to overtime pay. However, they will be eligible for compensatory offs for any overtime worked.
-Managers will no longer be entitled to leave travel allowance (LTA). However, they will be eligible for reimbursement of actual travel expenses incurred during leave.

-Managers will no longer be entitled to gratuity. However, they will be eligible for a provident fund (PF) contribution from their employer.

Archana Balasubramanian also highlights the importance of employers and managers complying with the new labour laws. Failure to comply could result in significant penalties, including imprisonment.
