As per the Order issued by MHA on 30th May 2020, the decision to open Schools, Colleges, Educational/ Training Institutions will be taken in the month of July, 2020, pursuant to the prevailing situation of the Covid-19 pandemic at that point in time. With the Schools, Colleges, Educational/ Training Institutions still shut, the key focus now should be to further strengthen and ramp up the digital resources and encourage investments in technology from rural schools to higher education institutions.

COVID-19 Update: Recent case laws and other developments

However, the Advisories/ Orders have given rise to a lot of confusion among the employers with regards to payment of salaries and wages of their employees and workers, pursuant to which various writ petitions have been filed by the employers in the High Courts and Supreme Court. COVID-19 UPDATE: FDI LEGISLATION AMENDED – INVESTMENT FROM CHINA AND OTHER COUNTRIES SHARING BORDERS WITH INDIA JEOPARDISED

While it can be appreciated that this amendment however is a step by the Indian Government to curb opportunistic takeovers/acquisitions of Indian companies, implementation of the same will have to be judiciously done, the notification has created a two faced dilemma.
